Fishing in the Gretna Area

When based in Gretna you are not only in the Gateway to Scotland you are also at the gateway to some of the best Angling in the South west of Scotland.

The Border Esk, River Annan, River Nith and on the English side of the Border the River Eden are only a short drive from the excellent accommodation which will cater for the Fisherman. All these Rivers are prolific famous Salmon and Sea Trout Rivers. With lesser Angling river the Sark and Kirtle within walking distance of the Town Centre.
As with all fishing in Scotland no rod licence is required but permission must be sought from the landowner to any of these Rivers no game fishing allowed on a Sunday.

Many Fishing Associations will supply a day or week ticket; also available is fishing on private beats.  Anglers are also attracted to Kelhead Water and other adjacent waters which have chub, pike and several other types of coarse fish.
